The Disc Golf Pro Tour (DGPT) has announced its acquisition of Jomez Productions for an undisclosed amount of money. Jomez Pro is the leading provider of disc golf post production videos and other video content. The move is part of DGPT’s efforts to enhance the fan experience and bring more visibility to the sport of disc golf.

Jomez Productions has been a major player in the disc golf world for over a decade, producing high-quality video coverage of tournaments and events. The company’s YouTube channel has amassed over 400,000 subscribers, making it the most popular disc golf channel on the platform. In February of 2022, the two organizations announced a two-year deal for post production rights to the MPO lead card for $500,000.
With the acquisition, DGPT aims to leverage Jomez Productions’ expertise in video production and content creation to create a more engaging and immersive experience for fans of the live production as well as post production viewers. This also gives the DGPT additional opportunities with sponsors for other avenues of advertising, rather than just the live product. The DGPT and Jomez have already been working together this season on FPO lead card coverage as well as the Jomez Pro camera ops carrying the LiveU broadcast equipment during the MPO afternoon rounds.
Jomez Productions will continue to operate under its current brand, but with the added resources and support of DGPT. The company’s co-founder, Jonathan Gomez, will also join the DGPT team as a creative director of the channel.
With the acquisition, DGPT plans to integrate Jomez Productions’ existing content and employees into its live broadcasts, as well as produce new content to showcase the sport and its top players. However, some fans are concerned that this move will lead to a more corporate and commercialized approach to disc golf, and that it could potentially alienate long-time fans of Jomez Pro and Patreon supporters. Others have expressed concern about the potential impact on the quality of Jomez Productions’ content, and whether the company will be able to maintain its high standards under the ownership of DGPT.
The acquisition of Jomez Productions by DGPT is a significant development for the sport of disc golf and the DGPT, but it remains to be seen how it will be received by fans and players. As the sport continues to grow and evolve, it will be important for all stakeholders to work together to ensure that disc golf maintains its unique identity and spirit.
